With the bikini season just around the corner, it’s time to face the inevitable – dealing with your bikini line.
My personal go-to is getting a bikini wax. I way prefer this over shaving, but it’s down to personal preference.
At Wear Next, we believe that body hair removal is a choice, not a standard – but if you’d rather go hair-free, you might be considering getting a bikini wax. So how long can you expect the smooth results to last?
Most of us have shaved our legs and underarms before, and we know all too well that it’s a painless but time-consuming process – not to mention, the hair grows back so quickly. But when it comes to shaving your bikini line, it’s an entirely different ballgame. Razor burn, bumpy skin, cuts and discomfort are all common side effects.
After years of getting bikini waxes, I’ve seen quite a few benefits of waxing over shaving. The big one is efficiency and how fast the process is; professional waxers can give you great results in a matter of minutes.
As I prepare for the summer and invest in a new bikini, I’m also scheduling my next bikini wax appointment. Read on to find out more about this hair removal method.

How long does a bikini wax last?
Waxing removes hair from the root, resulting in a smoother and longer-lasting result than shaving with a razor. While the hair will eventually grow back, waxing can keep you hair-free for three to four weeks.
As I recall, following my first waxing session, the duration of results varied between four to five weeks. This really just depends on the rate of hair re-growth specific to each individual; it could vary between three to six weeks.
Waxing can lead to a reduction in the amount of hair that regrows over time. Consistent and regular waxing may result in sparser hair growth, allowing you to enjoy smoother skin for longer periods between sessions.
When should I get a bikini wax before vacation?
If you’re planning to get a bikini wax before your vacation, it’s recommended to schedule your appointment for two to three days before your trip.
This will give your skin enough time to recover from any temporary redness or swelling that may occur in the first 24 hours after the procedure. Don’t worry, it’s totally normal!
It’s important to take it easy and avoid physical activity for a little while after your appointment to give the waxed area time to heal. But once that’s over, you’ll be ready to hit the beach or pool and enjoy your vacation with confidence.

How often should I get a bikini wax?
Getting a bikini wax every four to six weeks is generally recommended for maintaining smooth skin. Don’t worry if you notice hair growth a few days after your first session – this is normal.
The great news is that a single wax can last for three to six weeks, so you can enjoy hair-free skin for an extended period.
How painful is a bikini wax?
Getting a bikini wax can be uncomfortable for some, but the pain is usually manageable and gets better with each session.
To make it less painful, you can apply a numbing cream beforehand, take over-the-counter pain relievers, and ensure that the wax is cool before application.
