It might be August, but Zara is already dropping knitwear and it’s better than I could ever have anticipated.
Knitwear is a wardrobe staple of course, but it experienced a huge resurgence after British Olympian Tom Daley went viral for knitting in the stands during his final game at the Tokyo Olympics.
Plus, this summer saw the peak of crochet everything – from Dua Lipa’s barely-there bikini, to Rihanna’s white dress – so it seems like knitwear goes, whatever the weather.
Ahead of the change in seasons, the demand for knits is already soaring.
There has been a collective increase of 89% in searches for ‘knitted’ and ‘crocheted’, according to Lyst. People are particularly interested in ‘knitted cardigans’, whose searches are up by 41%, and ‘crochet tops’, which have increased pageviews by 23%.
Cult favourite Zara is answering the demand with knitwear to suit every body this season.
It’s backing the cottagecore trend, as there are plenty of floral cardigans and jumpers.
If you’re a fan of patterns, there’s a checkerboard knit dress in red and white that’s absolutely perfect, and there’s classics that will last forever too.
