Celebrity fashion lines can be hit or miss, but I think you’ll agree with me when I say Lizzo’s shapewear brand Yitty will be a very welcome addition to the fashion landscape.
Lizzo announced the new brand on Instagram, writing: ‘This is a dream 5 years in the making…. Introducing @YITTY: Shapewear you can wear Underwear, Overwear, Anywhere. For Every Damn Body. 6X to Xs. Are you ready for the YITTY LIBERATION? Coming soon…’
In a press statement, she explained why Yitty is needed.
“I was tired of seeing this sad, restrictive shapewear that literally no-one wanted to wear,” she said. “I had an epiphany like, ‘who can actually do something about this?’ I decided to take on the challenge of allowing women to feel unapologetically good about themselves again.
“Instead of thinking about size in this linear way, we’re thinking about it on a spectrum where everyone is included. Everyone’s size is just their size. It’s not high, it’s not low. It’s not big, it’s not small. It’s just your size.”

What to expect from Yitty
There’s plenty of shapewear out there, so what will Yitty offer and what makes them different?
The brand will offer three different lines – Nearly Naked, a line of seamless garments; Mesh Me, offering mesh pieces that can be worn as outerwear; and Major Label, which offers everyday pieces.
You can expect to see bras, leggings, shorts, bodysuits and more.

What does Yitty actually mean?
The brand has been named after Lizzo’s childhood moniker.
“Yitty is a nickname my auntie gave me when I was young,” she told Forbes.
“She was a full-figured woman and one of the coolest people ever with bold, beautiful energy. I wanted that energy in this brand.”
