Does Free People run large or small?

Free People’s sizes run big, especially their tops and bralettes. A lot of reviewers were surprised that a lot of their garments seem to be larger than expected.

When buying tops, you might want to size down if you’re not into loose fits and oversized looks. For their bralettes, both the band and cup are one or two sizes bigger than your usual size.

Their dresses either run small or are true to size, depending on the style. Their sweater dresses and more relaxed fits are true to size, while their more form-fitting dresses run small.

Their loose fits are also intentional. As their name suggests, Free people are catered to ‘free-spirited types,’ so a lot of their oversized fits lean into bohomeian aesthetics.

But if you’re not into the whole boho vibe in terms of sizing and fit, you should definitely size down.

What size do Free People models wear?

Free Poeple doesn’t disclose the sizes the models are wearing. With the brand’s loose fits, it can be anyone’s guess.

You must refer to the product details for exact measurements of the pieces you want to buy.

Does Free People offer plus size options?

Sadly Free People don’t offer plus size options, with their sizing only going up to an XL – UK 20. But that didn’t stop people from trying to find ‘secret plus size options.

Earlier this year, there was a rumour that they offered ‘secret sizes’ in their physical stores.

Youtube Fashion vlogger Carrie Dayton has a video all about it. She looked for the largest sizes in each item and was pleasantly shocked by the stretchy and comfortable fit.

I also found other reviews from plus-size fashion vloggers like Alex Michael May and Taren Denise, who share their experiences with how Free People actually fit a curvier body. Both were also surprised by how well they fit.

If you’re on the bustier side, some of their large items can feel small around the chest area. So, even though they don’t have a dedicated plus-size option, their generous sizing seems to be a good option.

Do Free People jackets run big or small?

The jackets are relatively true to size. If you’re petite, the jackets and blazers might have a looser and longer fit, so sizing down is recommended (if it doesn’t make the fit a little too cosy).

Some of their cardigans will also sit far too long on shorter frames.
