These Bags Were Everywhere at Fashion Week

The new 'it' colour.

Last Updated on October 4, 2021

Fashion Week really was a feast for the eyes this season, and there was one item that I saw time and time again: green bags.

From Paris to Copenhagen, the street style crowd let their accessories do the talking, with neon green arm candy at every turn.

While the fresh colour is often associated with spring and summer, I’m not really surprised to see it everywhere this season.

Along with a whole host of crayola brights, such as magenta and yellow, green is one of autumn winter 2021’s trending hues.

After being cooped up in our homes during the height of lockdown, we craved having fun with fashion again and it appears we’re ready to devour it. We’re moving away from neutrals and embracing bright and loud colours.

Green’s rise in popularity is also in part down to to Italian designer Bottega Veneta, whose highly coveted handbags and footwear have been incredibly popular in the hue – so much so that the saturated colour has earned the nickname ‘Bottega green’.

Bottega isn’t the only designer embracing apple green however. Stella McCartney and Ganni featured the hue heavily in their AW21 collections, while The Attico’s neon green mules have proved one of this year’s most popular shoes.

Fortunately the trend has translated to the high street just in time for autumn. I’ve looked through so many options and found really good quality, stylish green handbag options that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

If you’re looking for one that looks more structured and minimalist (despite the striking colour), there’s a Charles & Keith bag that has a sleek trapeze design and cool detachable ring handle which you can replace with a long strap too.

Want something that’s more casual but still fun? There’s this Warehouse gingham beaded bag in green that’s perfect. This shoulder bag is great for running quick errands; it’s just the right size and is easy to pair with any cool, casual ensemble.
