When summer comes around, the first item I dig out is my favourite pair of denim shorts.
For those of us who prefer wearing trousers to dresses, this comfy summer staple is a must-have – but is it just me, or is it suuuper hard to find the right pair?
Denim shorts have undergone a remarkable fashion evolution, moving beyond their humble beginnings as a staple for laid-back summer vibes. Nowadays, we style denim shorts with classy blazers for a sort of business casual.
Not only that, but there’s a huge variation of styles. Short-shorts, longer-length, paperbag, bermuda, mom shorts and so many more – so where do you start?
I usually do all my shopping online because it gives me the chance to wear an item for a couple of hours around the house to determine if it’s actually comfy.
Firstly, let’s talk about fit. This is a non-negotiable if you want to be comfy in yours. We have a useful size guide for working out your jeans size, which I recommend you take a look at.
More specifically though, you want to make sure the waistband isn’t gaping and that your shorts don’t ride up, leaving you with dreaded cameltoe.
I always get fooled into thinking something fits me well based on how nice it looks, but there’s no way I’m wearing a pair of shorts if they don’t feel comfortable so for me this is vital.
