When I think of Y2K fashion, I often feel complete dread.
Perhaps it’s because I’m a millennial and lived through it the first time around, but when we moved away from having to bare our midriffs with low-rise jeans, I felt complete relief.

You can imagine my disdain at the renaissance of Y2K fashion over the past couple of years, but one trend I’m not upset about seeing again is the skort.
Yes, they remind me of P.E, but I’m not mad about it. They feel like a way more practical mini skirt, as unlike the micro minis we’re seeing everywhere (Miu Miu, we’re looking at you), you don’t run the risk of flashing your knickers in a skort.
If you’re wondering wtf a skort is, it’s a combination of a skirt and shorts; it appears to look like a skirt, but underneath your modesty is protected.
I’ve noticed them slowly popping up on the high street, with Zara being one of the first to run with the trend, and now I’m convinced these are about to get massive.
I know most of them are tiny, but there is the occasional skort that also offers coverage. ASOS has a midi-length black skort I’ve got my eye on.
So if you’re on board, here are a selection of stylish skorts that will fit perfectly into your summer wardrobe this year. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.
