Every now and again, trends creep up on you. They’ve been bubbling away for a while, but it takes you a little while to notice. I hold my hands up when it comes to marble print, as that’s exactly what happened.
It all started with Kai Collective, the clothing label from fashion blogger Fisayo Longe. Their marble-printed pieces have exploded over the past couple of years, earning Longe a place on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list. It’s unsurprising that many other brands have followed suit, offering up their own iterations of marbled pieces, from jeans, to cycling shorts.

Of course, House of Sunny also launched a collection for SS21, which includes marble-printed trousers and matching tops, and ASOS now has an abundance of pieces emblazoned with the print.
It comes as 70s fashion is enjoying a renaissance, with retro florals, flared trousers and chunky heels making a comeback on the high street. Marble print is the perfect micro trend to join the psychedelic pieces.
It looks like it won’t be long before it crosses over from being a micro trend to a huge one too. There’s been a 48% increase in global searches for marble print pieces, according to Lyst. Marble effect dresses were the most searched style under the category.
Aside from marble, people have also been looking for ‘swirl print’ mesh tops.
It’s not for everyone, but if the pattern is a bit of you, there’s plenty to choose from. From co-ords, to maxi dresses, anything goes.
To make them more apt for winter, team them with quilted coats for a trend-on-trend look or classic black coats for that timeless appeal.
