Gucci’s fur-lined mules are one of the most controversial pairs of shoes to ever exist – but whether you love them or hate them, they look bloody comfy.
Since the release of House of Gucci, Ridley Scott’s newest movie that tells the dramatic story of the doomed marriage between Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci, the brand couldn’t be more popular.

Lady Gaga and Adam Driver star as the powerful couple, who were married for over 20 years. The film follows the pair as their marriage falls apart, leading to the death of Gucci after Reggiani hires a hitman to kill him.
The first glimpse of just how popular the film would be came with an Instagram post from Lady Gaga of the pair on set, which received 4.3million likes.
Since we’ve finally been able to watch it, the demand for Gucci has unsurprisingly grown dramatically. According to Lovethesales.com, searches for Gucci bags grew by 257 per cent on the week of the film’s release, while searches for the brand’s slides grew by 75 per cent.
Gucci’s loafers remain one of the most iconic items ever made by the Italian designer label and one which features heavily in House of Gucci.
While various iterations have been designed over the years, with and without the fur, the horsebit detail always remains the same – and is instantly recognisable.
However with great quality comes a hefty price tag that not all of us can afford; the beautiful shoes will set you back nearly £800.
If you’re able to afford them, great – but there are some other options too. Sites such as Vestiaire Collective sell authentic second hand pairs, while there are plenty of lookalikes on the high street too.
They might not be the real deal, but Zara has this week dropped the perfect copycat pair for just £59.99 and ASOS always has plenty of loafers to choose from.
Whichever option you go for, as long as you take good care of them they’re a worthy investment.
