Aldo Gucci came up with the idea of the now iconic loafer, after noticing it’s popularity amongst the most affluent Americans.

Taking the equestrian theme of the brand and adding a dose of sleek sophistication to the loafer, Gucci introduced the version we know and love today – complete with the famous Horsebit.

2023 will mark the loafer’s 70th birthday, and it’s still going strong. In 2022, there are a wide variety to choose from.

Prefer a chunky sole? Gucci’s lug sole loafers give the preppy piece an edge, but the sleeker style is still particularly popular.

Some of the best dressed people on the planet have been seen wearing them, including Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid, Harry Styles and Rihanna.

As someone with expensive taste, I know the struggle of not being able to justify such a big purchase all too well.

Gucci isn’t cheap. A pair will set you back more than £600.
