Glossier has a brand new deodorant and as a big fan of the skincare brand, I’m excited to try it out.
I’ve had bad experiences with deodorants—even the strongly fragranced ones. They couldn’t cover up the odour, and some made it worse, while also causing irritation. That’s why I was excited to hear about Glossier’s new natural deodorant that’s suitable for all skin types.

Glossier started as a brand that wanted to change how beauty products were marketed. They wanted to make makeup more inclusive and enjoyable.
Their most popular products, such as the Balm Dotcom, Milky Jelly Cleanser, and Futuredew, follow their “skin first, makeup second” philosophy. Glossier is no stranger to body care too, but their body washes and hand cream don’t get much love.
So, will their deodorant be part of their coveted list of products? I scrolled through reviews about the Glossier deodorant for you (and for me).

What does the Glossier deodorant smell like?
The Glossier deodorant is available in four scent options—Glossier You, Sandstone, Orange Blossom Neroli, and unscented.
Glossier You has a creamy, woody scent with notes of pink pepper, ambrette, iris, and ambrox. While Sandstone has an earthy mix of sandalwood, clary sage, and fig leaf, surprisingly this is everyone’s favourite scene.
Orange Blossom Neroli is reminiscent of Glossier’s Body Hero line, with pear, mandarin, cypress, and orange blossom fragrances. The unscented option is also available, which stops bad smells and sweat without masking your natural scent. You can check them out here:

When it comes to the scent, some reviews on this Reddit thread mentioned that it takes a while to really smell the fragrance. “The scent seems to need the warmth of skin to activate it. While smelling it in the case, I was only able to get the faintest hint of scent,” one user shared.
Some have also said that there’s a waxy undertone to the Glossier deodorant. “The best way I can describe it is that it smells very similar to what the eau de parfum smells like before it dries down — very peppery.” another user mentioned, but apparently it doesn’t smell too off-putting.

If you want a scent that’s more long-lasting, a lot of users agree that Sandstone definitely lasts all day and has a decent fragrance projection compared to the other scents. No wonder, it’s their bestseller.
Is Glossier deodorant antiperspirant?
Glossier wanted to develop a product that focuses on “pit care” and nourishes your armpits the way skincare products do for the face.
However, this product is not an antiperspirant. Unlike antiperspirants that contain aluminium to block sweat and keep you dry, deodorants work differently. Glossier’s deodorant will not stop the sweat, instead, they help you smell better and nourish your armpits.
In this Reddit thread comparing the Glossier deodorant with other “natural” deodorants, a lot were pleasantly surprised by how quickly it melts when it touches the skin. So, you don’t have to use a lot of it to get good results.
According to Glossier, when they conducted a study using their new deodorant 96% of people agreed that their underarms felt smoother, softer, nourished, conditioned, clean and fresh.
So far, the results and reviews speak volumes. A few have complained that they still experience pit stains even after using the deodorant, but it’s not much of a problem. Especially when there are no foul odours or any itchy side effects.

Is Glossier deodorant aluminium-free?
As people become more aware of the potential dangers of certain chemicals found in skincare products, there has been a growing interest in natural and organic alternatives.
Aluminium is a common ingredient in deodorants, especially antiperspirants. Sadly, it can cause irritation and even rashes in the pit area, particularly if you have sensitive skin
Luckily, the Glossier deodorant is free of aluminium and instead utilizes potato starch to absorb moisture during the day. Additionally, it contains magnesium hydroxide, which not only absorbs sweat but also helps to maintain a healthy pH level for the skin.
