Jeans got a really bad rap during the pandemic and pretty much disappeared out of our outfit rotations in exchange for loungewear, loungewear and more loungewear.
It seems to shock people when I tell them that I continued to wear mine throughout the lockdowns. This does come from someone who wore make up and got dressed up most days to keep feeling like myself, but dare I say it, I actually found them comfortable.

I don’t mean restrictive styles like skinnies, but baggier styles were definitely still wearable for me.
So when it comes to summer dressing, you can imagine I’m still firmly in mine.
British summers don’t exactly equate to boiling hot weather, but even when it feels warm, I’d argue you can definitely still wear denim. How, I hear you ask.
Firstly, it’s all about what you wear on top and on your feet. If you’re wearing closed-toe shoes, you’re setting yourself up to overheat. Flat and heeled sandals give your feet room to breathe and look far more summer-ready.
Similarly, wearing a roll neck isn’t a good idea if you’re someone who runs warm. Tank tops, bandeaus and short-sleeved blouses are much more warm weather-friendly.
