You might think tights are simply worn to keep your legs warm in winter. Think again! This season, fashion girls are warming up in style by adding statement tights to their outfits – and make a statement, it does. For as little as a few pounds, a pair of tights can transform a simple look. Leopard print, polkadot and block colours have been popping up on Instagram feeds across the globe just in time for Christmas. We know what’s on our list!

If the idea of colourful tights puts you on edge, fear not. We’ve collated a collection of inspiration from influencers we love to get your creative juices flowing when it comes to your wardrobe.

Faye Ellaby’s leopard print tights from ASOS are giving us serious envy [above]. Teamed with the Ganni printed dress, Faye’s clashed her prints for style points – but if this is too much for you, try a simple black dress for starters.

The Queen of colourful, Blaire Eadie has long been a fan of a statement tight [above]. Worn under trousers or a skirt for that extra pop of colour, this truly does add a little something to her looks.

If you’re new to printed tights, opt for a subtle black pair like Steph Lamb [above]. Keep it simple with a black leather skirt and let your legs do the talking instead.

Animal print is going no where. Make it current by wearing these tights from Emilio Cavallini [above] teamed with a simple black dress.

Another wearable trend this season is checks, spotted on coats, trousers, dresses, and now tights too. We love Meg’s tartan pair [above], which give a subtle nod to the trend and look gorgeous.

Alexandra Sive’s look gives a nod to Wednesday Addams’s style, with an adorable peter pan collared black dress and chunky black loafers [above]. The lace and fishnet tights are the perfect addition – not too much, but just enough.

Another black and white combination that looks effortlessly cool, New Yorker Oriane Adjibi has kept it simple with a shirt, cami dress, biker boots and patterned tights. A lesson in how less is sometimes more.

Vintage store Mad Seventies has left us feeling inspired to re-examine our wardrobe, dig out old vintage pieces and transform them with a pair of tights. Her pair are from Ganni at Swedish Stockings and are on sale for just £22 now [above].

Block-colour tights don’t have to be obvious. Offer a hint of colour underneath a long skirt for an effortless yet impactful touch, like Rachael [above].
