Whenever I treat myself to luxury brand candles, I find it hard to bring myself to actually light them, which is why I often choose scented candles from high street brands instead.
I finally bit the bullet and lit my Jo Malone candle last week and – as expected – I’m completely hooked. So what’s a girl to do?
The cost of living crisis means it’s time to reassess the little luxuries we can afford and those we may need to let go of. Sadly, high-end candles like Jo Malone’s might fall into the latter category for me.
If you’re a devoted scented candle lover, there’s a silver lining. Thanks to budget-friendly supermarket and high street candles, you can now indulge in comparable ones for more than half the cost.

Last year, budget supermarket Aldi introduced supersize four-wick candles reminiscent of the £350 Jo Malone version. Although currently out of stock, Aldi is known for restocking popular items based on customer demand, so keep an eye on their shelves.
And there’s more. I took to Tiktok to find the best Jo Malone candle dupes and I found so many conveniently available at popular stores like Tesco, Aldi, and B&M, as well as the esteemed high-street brand M&S. I also found some on our favourite retailer, Boots.
