Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the yearโand itโs also one of the most chaotic. There are so many deals on offer that shopping can feel overwhelming. Are you buying something because you really need (or want) it, or is it just the excitement that itโs been discounted? It takes some real self-restraint and thought to make sure youโre not blowing through your money during Cyber weekend, but I can offer you some handy tips to avoid that happening.
If you are planning to make a purchase, itโs worth making long-term investments rather than throwaway fashion. What is Black Friday?
Black Friday is an annual shopping event, which sees nearly all fashion and beauty brands offering huge discounts on their products. It takes place on the last Friday in November and the day after Thanksgiving, giving shoppers an opportunity to do their Christmas shopping early. The name symbolises the shift from financial losses to profits for retailers due to the high sales volume during this period.
Does Celine take part in Black Friday?
Designer brands rarely take part in sales like Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales and it seems like Celine follows that pattern. The label has kept quiet about the shopping event, so weโre presuming that theyโre not taking part in 2023. Itโs not all doom and gloom though. Many retailers that stock the brand do take part, like Matches Fashion, Net-a-Porter, Selfridges and Farfetch.
These sites stock the labelโs eyewear brand, but Farfetch also stocks pre-loved bags, clothes and accessories from the French fashion house. The retailer has previously offered huge discounts on pre-loved pieces during BFCM, so keep your eyes peeled for a similar offer in 2023.

How much can you expect to save?
Last year Farfetch offered up to 50% off thousands of items and an additional 20% off all of the main sale items, as well as free shipping on all orders so weโre expecting similar discounts in 2023.
Matches Fashion offered up to 70% off, while Selfridges offered up to 50% off. Net-a-Porter gave 30% off thousands of designer items in 2022, so we can expecting similar offerings this year too.
Top tips for shopping on Black Friday & Cyber Monday
Avoid overspending by getting clear about what you want to buy during Cyber weekend. If youโre buying a designer item, pick those youโre happy to invest in and donโt get distracted on the day by other, cheap items. Create a wish list and donโt stray from it.
Itโs also worth signing up to all relevant mailing lists, like those of Celine, Matches Fashion, Selfridges, Liberty London, Harrods, Farfetch and Net-a-Porter to ensure you donโt miss out of any Celine products go on sale.
Make sure you ask your friends and loved ones what they really want for Christmas so you donโt end up overspending needlessly on gifts they donโt love. Nobody will mind you asking, especially if it means they get what they really want for Christmas.
Wear Next Opinion
As consumers are becoming savvier to the impact of overconsumption on our environment and the individuals working to produce garments, many brands have decided to boycott Black Friday over the past few years. This included brands Monki, Next, and Rixo, all of which opted out of Black Friday in 2022.
While we donโt condone overspending, we do want fashion to be accessible to those impacted by inflation as well as those who struggle to shop sustainably due to size constraints.
We love fashion and the freedom of self-expression it brings and understand youโre going to want to shop the sales. We encourage you to be mindful of your spending and avoid buying items youโre probably going to discard of in a yearโs time.
Shop smarter, not harder this Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Ensure youโre not overspending by setting yourself a budget beforehand and creating a wish list of items you actually need rather than want โ including Christmas gifts for others โ if you are going to spend.
