The long-awaited brainchild of Donatella Versace, Silvia Venturini Fendi and Kim Jones, better known as Fendace, has officially released its first collection.
Arguably, the pinnacle of fashion collaborations, just don’t call it a collaboration, the “swap” aka Fendace features ‘Fendi by Versace‘, as well as ‘Versace by Fendi‘.

The collection which was first teased at Milan Fashion Week last September combines both Fendi and Versace house motifs to classic luxury pieces from both houses.
In a press release, Jones said, “It’s a swap rather than a collaboration, and most of all, it is done out of friendship. It is the beauty of togetherness after time apart and a celebration of women who have inspired me so much.”
“The campaign captures the same sense of friendship and energy we had when we were designing the collection. Kim is a visionary designer and innovator. To me, Fendace will always mean love.” Donatella added to Jones’ sentiments.
The campaigns were photographed by Steven Meisel and videoed by Alec Maxwell and featured a lengthy list of models including, Naomi Campbell, Kristen McMenamy, Anja Rubik, Anok Yai, Imaan Hammam and Lina Zhang to name but a few.
What exactly is the Fendace Swap?
The designers did a full creative swap, that fuses both brands’ design hallmarks and ethos into two collections, with Versace creating a “Fendi by Versace” collection, and Jones and Fendi’s Silvia Venturini Fendi creating a “Versace by Fendi” collection.
Staple pieces from both brands have reinterpreted to create an all-new collection that consists of a ready-to-wear collection, footwear, handbags, and other accessories.

What can we expect from the Fendace collections?
In the Fendi by Versace collection, it features many of the Versace’s signature styles, such as the iconic Baroque print, safety pins and sheared furs.
In the Versace by Fendi collection, Versace embodied Fendi’s signature sexy aesthetic with pieces like shimmery gowns, minidresses and ‘70s-inspired denim pantsuits.
Imagine the Fendi little black dress stitched together with Versace safety pins or Versace chainmail and a medusa motif on a nano Fendi baguette bag. It’s a real feast for the eyes.
