Since H&M’s collection with Simone Rocha back in 2021, we’ve been awaiting news of the high street brand’s next collaboration with bated breath.
The news we’ve all been waiting for has finally come, as the brand’s collab with Mugler has finally landed.
The collaboration will see H&M’s creative advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson join forces with creative director of Mugler Casey Cadwallader, making designer fashion accessible to high street shoppers once again.
This certainly isn’t the first time H&M has teamed up with a designer. The brand has been doing so for almost two decades, seeing huge success on its collabs with Moschino, Stella McCartney, Simone Rocha, Versace, Karl Lagerfeld and many more.
These collections have been hugely popular, selling out almost instantly and being resold for significantly higher than the retail price on reselling sites.
Mugler has been worn by stars Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion and Megan Fox in recent years, bringing the fashion house’s avant-garde designs to the red carpet.
More recently, Cadwallader and Johansson sat down with journalist Jose Criales-Unzueta for a panel discussion in New York to offer an insight into their process.
Johansson explained that Mugler was at the top of H&M’s wish list of brands they wanted to work with, adding that when she asked the design team who the most interesting designer is right now, “everybody kept saying Mugler.”
Stars including Pamela Anderson and Lourdes Leon were in attendance wearing pieces from the collection. Luckily now we can all get our hands on the A-list look without the matching budget.
At the event, Cadwallader expressed his passion for accessibility, saying, “Even with the Mugler collection, I try to do many, many tiers of pricing. I’m very happy to make something that’s very luxury and very expensive, but at the same time, a lot of young people are very energized by Mugler, and they want a piece of it.”
Johannson meanwhile revealed that the collaboration had been in progress before Thierry Mugler’s death in January 2022.
“Sadly enough, Mr. Mugler passed away,” Johannson said. “We were then determined to pursue this and make it happen.”

What is Mugler known for?
The Mugler brand was founded by Thierry Mugler in 1974, a year after his first label Cafe De Paris. In 1990, the brand launchred its first perfumes, which are still popular today – especially Alien and Angel.
The same year, the designer worked with George Michael on his music video for Too Funky, dressing supermodels including Linda Evangelista, Nadja Auermann, Tyra Banks and Estelle Lefébure.
Today, you might best know the Mugler brand for its perfumes, celebrity outfits and of course, the bodysuits, which have been mentioned plenty since the collaboration was announced.
Stars Beyonce, Dua Lipa, Cardi B and Miley Cyrus have all worn the designer’s bodysuits, while star Kim Kardashian’s famous wet dress was designed by Mugler.
Sadly Mugler passed away in January 2022, but the brand still lives on with Cadwallader as Creative Director.
When is Mugler x H&M available to buy?
Mugler x H&M is available to buy from 11 May, 2023.
What time will it be released?
For both online and in-store customers, the collection will be available to buy from 9am. For an hour beforehand, the H&M website will be in ‘preparation mode’ but it’s worth joining the online queue early.
When Simone Rocha was released back in 2021, I logged into the H&M website at around 7.30am to secure the goods. It took me hours to get out of the waiting room, by which point some pieces had already sold out! I managed to find a hack on Twitter, which basically told me to click ‘Enter’ over and over again to be let into the website.
I’m not saying this will work this time around, but if you’ve been waiting for hours, it’s worth checking social media for tips and tricks.
For IRL shoppers, it’s recommended to get there early too to avoid disappointment.
Check back soon for more information, as we’ll be updating this article regularly.
Where to buy Mugler x H&M
It is shoppable online at hm.com, as well as in selected stores. In the past, queues have formed outside the brand’s London stores, so if you’re planning to visit it’s recommended you get there early.
Similarly the website is known to crash when popular collections drop.
Mugler x H&M prices
The collection is very reasonable.
The cheapest items are unsurprisingly jewellery. Earrings and mesh gloves are £34.99, a full-length mesh bodysuit comes in at £119.99, and the most expensive item is a leather coat at £499.
Dresses vary from £69.99 to £229.99, while other accessories come in at £79.99 for a belt and £139.99 for body jewellery.
Mugler x H&M sizes
The collection is available in UK sizes 4 to 24.
Last year, Cadwallader told Vogue: “It’s something our team works really hard on – our fit models are curvy, so when we build clothes with that architecture in mind, it translates into production.
“We’ve been selling a high number of larger sizes, and when I see curvy women wearing the clothes on my Instagram account, it’s amazing.”
More recently, he spoke about the upcoming collection and added: “When the project to collaborate with H&M came about, I looked at it as a huge opportunity to get more people what they want, quite simply. Mugler is so much about making people feel great about themselves, making them feel empowered and feel confident.
“I want people to enjoy it, I want everyone to have it. I have a very democratic opinion about that.”
H&M faced a backlash in 2021 for creating a collection with Simone Rocha that failed to cater for all sizes. It was only available in sizes XS to L in European countries, or up to size XL in the US.
Which pieces will sell out first?
It’s hard to know, but as Mugler bodysuits are so popular, it’s likely these will fly off the shelves. The corseted dresses, blazers and jeans are sure to go quickly too.
Can you return Mugler x H&M?
Online purchases can only be returned online within 14 days of making the order. Unfortunately these can’t be returned in-store.
In-store purchases can be returned within only three days from the launch date.

Tips for shopping Mugler x H&M
We know that Mugler x H&M is going to be incredibly popular, so it’s worth getting organised and having a plan of attack to be in with a chance of getting the coveted pieces.
Firstly, it’s a good idea to sign up to the H&M newsletter and to download the app. Enable notifications and you’ll be amongst the first to find out any news about the collection.
Secondly, set your alarm. You’ll need to be up early on May 11, whether you’re queuing outside the Oxford Street store or shopping online.
I logged in to the H&M website at 7.30am to get my hands on the Simone Rocha collection on the day of release.
Because so many people were trying to purchase it, I was held in a waiting room. By the time I got through, many pieces had already sold out!
Make sure you don’t constantly refresh the page, as this will probably make the process longer.
Plan ahead. If you know exactly what you want to buy before the collection drops, you won’t waste time scrolling through the products whilst they’re selling out.
If you’re shopping in-store, customers will be directed to a colour-coded queue system, but this doesn’t actually guarantee availability of the collection. TLDR: get there early.
