PSA: Susan Fang x & Other Stories is Now Available to Shop
It won’t last long.
Just when you thought this year’s designer collaborations couldn’t get any better, & Other Stories just dropped its next co-lab with Canadian Chinese designer Susan Fang. The brand has joined forces with Fang on an 11-piece collection Dreams Unleashed, which officially launched in-store and online on April 18th.
The capsule collection is instantly recognisable as Fang’s innovative work, as it includes many techniques that have become synonymous with her style. There are crochet and broderie anglaise pieces, 3D flowers, laser-cut flower petals and beaded water drop details. Inspired by nature, Fang explained in a statement that she included floral elements in every piece, making it perfect for spring summer.
“It’s a collection that ties nature, dreams and surrealism together through fashion,” she explains. “Nature served as our primary inspiration and the idea of creating dreamy statement pieces that also can be worn in your daily wardrobe.”

After graduating from Central Saint Martins, the London and Shanghai-based designer launched her own label in 2017. Her unique designs quickly gained attention and she was shortlisted for the LVMH Prize in 2019. She was selected for Forbes’ 30 under 30 list in both 2019 and 2020, and her designs are now stocked at Revolve, MyTheresa, Beams, It China, It Hong Kong, 10 CC and EQL. This isn’t her first rodeo either, as she’s previous collaborated with high street brand Zara, footwear label Ugg and sportswear brand Nike.

You can shop Susan Fang’s collection with & Other Stories online now, after it was released on April 18th both in-store and online. As with the high street label’s previous designer collections, the most popular pieces tend to sell out pretty quickly, so it’s worth logging in early to avoid disappointment. Better yet, head into store.

The collection’s prices range from £55 for the beaded off-shoulder top to £265 for the 3D flower dress.
Despite being on the higher end of & Other Stories regular prices, this is incredibly reasonable considering the skill that goes into making each piece. A tiered tulle dress from Susan Fang will usually set you back around £1,000 – £2,000, but this collection allows you to wear a piece from the designer for a fraction of the price.

The floral necklace came to Fang in a dream. She said, “I didn’t know if transparent flowers exist in the real world, maybe only in a fantasy world. So I felt I had to create one. It became my 3D-printed flower necklace, initially a showpiece, and now we’ve crafted a less heavy version for & Other Stories, which I love.”

Many of Fang’s signature pieces are included in this high street collaboration, including laser-cut flower petals, prints, crochet and broderie anglaise. She says, “We actually added floral elements in all the pieces, where some flowers are in the broderie anglaise and some are made with beads. And we combined a lot of floral prints with transparent fabric so they appear to be floating, giving the wearer a sense of freedom.”

Fang’s mother is involved in the brand and many of her drawings and paintings are incorporated into the designs. Fang says, “My mother used to be a farmer, which has given her an in-depth knowledge of how flowers grow and what they actually look like, which is very different from how we are taught in school to draw flowers. That perspective makes her flower drawings so very unique.”

The stand out piece of the collection, the ‘treasure dress’ is inspired by Fang’s “deep love of trees”. Speaking about how she brought it to life, Fang said, “In my main collection we use a special technique to make flower petals out of organza laser cuts and assemble into a dress, and for this treasure dress, we were able to recreate that effect. The flower print is painted by my mother, and it feels like you’re floating in organza flowers as you walk.”
