I Truly Can’t Choose Between These 9 Aviator Jackets

Can you?

Whether it’s the urge to prepare for the autumn or the fact I’ve just watched Top Gun: Maverick for the third time this month, the urge to look for the perfect aviator jacket has been strong.

As expected, I’ve found a selection of ridiculously gorgeous ones that I can’t choose between – so I’m enlisting our readers to help me.

Before I show you, perhaps you’re interested in where the trend originated from?

Aviator jackets were originally designed for pilots during World War I, as most aircrafts didn’t have an enclosed cockpit. The leather outer and fur lining was designed to keep them warm during long flights – hence its other name, ‘flight jacket’.

Since then the functional and stylish jacket has been adopted by fashion and pop culture.

Now aviator jackets are a wardrobe staple, particularly good for keeping you warm during the colder months without having to forego style.

Compared to traditional aviators, modern versions of the jacket come in updated colours and textures.

If you’re looking for something that’s closer to the classic, you can always go for black, white and cognac colours.

The hardware detailing has also evolved through the years with more jackets sporting buckles on the cuffs and chunky zip fastenings. Then there’s the introduction of faux leather and suede options on the high street.

Aviator jackets are another item that just doesn’t date, so if you’re looking for a long-lasting piece, it’s a good one.

They’re perfect for casual occasions and laid-back outfits, but can also work well with formal pieces to give an outfit some edge.

So let’s take a look at the jackets I’m struggling to choose between. After some research, here are my absolute favourites across a variety of price points and brands, including Acne, Topshop, Mango, jakke, Warehouse and more.
