It’s been what feels like years of minimalism, beige basics and dainty gold jewellery as the frontrunners of fashion, but now bright, bold highlighter hues are finally taking the top spot as we venture into a new post-pandemic era.
While loungewear has been our uniform over the past year, we’re now seeing a welcome transition to the exact opposite – namely neon tailoring.
Balenciaga’s SS21 featured neon green and hot pink tailored suits, while Balmain’s neon yellow double-breasted blazer and The Attico’s neon mules both became instant sell outs in recent months. Meanwhile stars Hailey Bieber and Leonie Hanne made the look much more wearable when they stepped out in neon blazers, leading to a surge in searches.

As a result, Lyst report an increase in searches for neon blazers over the past month, with pageviews for keywords ‘neon’, ‘bright’ and ‘colorful’ tailored blazers increasing by 22% collectively.
While the idea of wearing neon might feel a little nerve wracking, the bright blazer is probably one of the easiest ways to wear colour. Teamed with a pair of slouchy jeans or with a simple LBD, it’s a sure-fire way to give level up a look. Then, you can work up to wearing the look head-to-toe if you wish.
