Sister Jane is the ultimate in regencycore fashion. With vintage-inspired dresses, bold prints and feminine designs, there’s no brand like it.
If you’re planning to make a purchase from SJ for the first time, you’re probably wondering what their sizing is like.
I’m a huge fan of the brand, with a wardrobe full of their dresses so I know a thing or two about how their sizing works.
London-based brand Sister Jane first launched in 2011 and has since evolved and matured, incorporating new styles and influences while still retaining its signature charm.

Since its conception, the brand has introduced its premium collection Dream Sister Jane, as well as its sister brand Ghospell.
During an interview with Refinery29, SJ’s designer Gregory Apers explained that their designs focus on empowering women and making them center stage. “Women are at the centre of the brand; we work for and with them,” she said.
“We find in vintage aesthetics what we also find in femininity: an abundance of stories. It is unique, aspiring and nostalgic as well as being emotional, sensitive, fragile and strong at the same time. Women are our storytellers: we are inspired by both what they wear today and what they wore yesterday.”

Do Sister Jane sizes run small?
The brand’s sizing varies depending on what you’re buying. The fit of many of their designs are oversized, so you can expect to buy your regular size in those items.
However some items come up quite small, so where I’d usually buy a size small for my size (UK size 10) I have to get a medium. This tends to be the items with more defined waistbands, like skirts, trousers and tighter-fitting dresses.
To ensure a perfect fit, it’s best to refer to their size chart, which provides detailed measurements for each size. This will help customers choose the appropriate size and avoid any potential sizing issues.
How does Sister Jane’s sizing work?
Sister Jane recently introduced a new sizing system, with the addition of sizes M+ and L+. In other words, these are sizes L and XXL respectively.
For the best understanding, take a look at their size chart online.
SJ also explain that some of their products are sold online according to the new sizing system, despite the size label or product tag attached to the garment still showing the old sizing. Confusing, right?!

Therefore, customers who order a size M+ (UK 12) or size L (UK 14) may receive an item labeled as size L (UK 12) or size XL (UK 14), respectively. It is important to keep this in mind when ordering to avoid confusion about the actual size of the garment.
Does Sister Jane offer plus sizes?
Sister Jane have recently launched extended sizes, offering sizes L+ and XL, which are around UK sizes 20 and 22 respectively.
Their sizing is really confusing, so before you make a purchase, it’s a good idea to take your measurements against their size chart.
