Ugg Boots Are Back, But Not As You Know Them

They’re hot properly among the A-list.

Last Updated on September 30, 2022

With low rise jeans, crop tops, and baguette bags all having made a comeback, it was only a matter of time until Ugg boots we’re back in our lives, bigger and bolder than ever.

We’ve seen them on everyone from the Hadids, Elsa Hosk, Hailey Bieber, Dua Lipa, Irina Shayk, Kaia Gerber, Joan Smalls, Kendall Jenner, Keke Palmer and even Cher, who is the face of UGG’s SS22 campaign.

While Uggs have been seen on anyone who is anyone recently we’ve noticed that there’s a particular Ugg style that celebrities and models can’t get enough of – the Ugg Classic Mini Platform Boots and it follows a major 2022 shoe trend, platforms.

The platform version is a variation of Ugg’s popular ultra mini classic boots which debuted in 2020 with an additional 2-inch platform sole.

With everyone’s obsession with platforms this year, it makes the classic style feel even fresher.

Are Ugg boots in style?

Before becoming Young Hollywood’s favourite shoe in the early noughties, Uggs were originally worn by Aussie surfers in the Sixties to keep their feet warm after being in the water.

In recent years we’ve seen brands like Birkenstocks and Crocs rise in popularity and Uggs are no different. These brands have risen to the forefront in recent years when we started to prioritise comfort over all else.

Who doesn’t want to wear quite literally the comfiest cosiest shoes all winter long? Ugg boots were specifically designed for comfort and warmth all while feeling like walking on a snuggly, sheepskin cloud. The dream.

But there’s also more to Uggs that just the comfort, debuted at their spring/summer 2023 London Fashion Week show KNWLS put its uniquely cool spin on two pairs of UGGs – a partnership as part of Fashion East XLNC.

The signature chestnut suede Ugg boots were folded down to expose the fleecy lining and pierced with bronze hoops; the second was a pair of heeled sheepskin booties that must be the most comfortable shoes on the runway.

So, to answer the question: yes, Ugg boots are stylish, and I think they will stand the test of time.

They can transform your look to make it more casual, muted and cool, making them the perfect counterpoint to jeans, slip dresses, leather pants and even short shorts.

One thing’s for sure. If they’re good enough for Hailey Bieber, who has one of the most coveted wardrobes on the planet, they’re certainly good enough for me.

Hailey was spotted in one of my favourite pairs, the Ugg Neumel Platform Booties, and you will find me in them all winter long.
