Bored of your beauty routine? There are so many bold, bright and exciting new trends coming your way.
With the end of the year fast approaching, I think we are all ready to say goodbye to 2021 and look forward to a brighter 2022 – in more ways than one.
Autumn winter 2021 saw the back of those comfy casuals that supported us through lockdown, with some of the boldest trends we have seen in a while taking their place, such as saturated hues, sky-high platforms and more sequins than you can shake a stick at.

When it comes to both fashion and beauty, this is set to continue in 2022. It’s time to shake up our beauty routines and have more fun.

You only have to glimpse at the spring summer catwalk shows to get an insight into what we can expect. Bold coloured liners, statement blushes and embellished eyes all made an appearance, with 90s nostalgia still coming through too.
After perfecting our cleanse, tone and moisturise routines in lockdown, skin is still on the fresh side with light coverage and an emphasis on colour and play.
So what else can we look forward to in the New Year?
Here are all the biggest beauty trends I’m backing for 2022.

Vibrant liner

A winged liner has always been a popular statement, from Marilyn Monroe’s classic sultry liner, to the 60s Twiggy cut crease iteration with drawn on lashes for a doe-eyed look.
We’re bringing it into the 2020s, as 2022 is set for a double wing with vibrant colours.
As seen at Versace and Dior.

Bold Blush

Keeping with the theme of statement beauty, we turn to our cheeks.
Veering away from your more traditional blush colours, we saw warm orange and yellow tones at Fendi – perfect for when the summer returns!
In 2022, blush escapes the boundary of the apple of the cheeks and creeps up toward the temples for the ultimate statement.
Peter Philips’ make up look took inspiration from Studio 54, while similar bold blush was seen at Anna Sui in red tones.

Embellishment

If you enjoy a bit of pearl or sparkle embellishment, the next trend could be the one for you.
Eyes covered in crystals and gold foil were spotted on the SS22 catwalks, while pearls are set to rise in 2022 too.
Pinterest Predicts – the social media platform’s trend report for 2022 – claims that pearlcore is set to be one of the biggest trends, with the beautiful beads covering everywhere from your nails, to your eyes.
As seen at Etro, Simone Rocha and Dior.

Glossy lips

With all the emphasis on bold eye looks and daring blushes, it can seem scary to get involved.
If you prefer something a little more understated, you’ll be pleased to see a classic lip trend re-emerging: the neutral glossy lip.
Easy to recreate and the most wearable beauty trend of the lot, it can be worn from winter through to summer.
As seen at Blumarine and Boss X Russell
