The Body Positive Swimwear Brands to Get to Know Now

Size inclusive swimwear.

Last Updated on September 22, 2021

If you thought plus-size swimwear consisted of boring black swimsuits and outdated shapes, think again. Body positive swimwear brands are on the rise, offering both style and substance for all women.

Despite the fact the pandemic has led to the liquidation of many stores on the high street, it’s also a really exciting time for fashion. Small, made-to-order and sustainable fashion brands are on the rise, answering the prayers of shoppers who are demanding more from their wardrobes.

But when it comes to plus-size fashion, there’s still a way to go. While the market as a whole is expected to reach £9.03billion by 2022 and the average clothing size for a woman in the US being between 16 and 18, many still feel they’re barely considered when it comes to swimwear. It makes the brands that do listen all the more exciting.

We believe that every body should be given the opportunity to feel confident and stylish come summer, so we’ve rounded up 6 swimwear brands that share our ethos.

Kitty & Vibe

Sick of saggy bikini bottoms? Kitty and Vibe are too. That’s actually the reason why they launched their brand and what their sizing is all about.

While many brands rely upon the hip size, Kitty and Vibe also take your butt size into account, offering swimwear that fits customers perfectly.

Aside from these, the brand also aims to help the environment through its sustainability efforts. The brand says it pays its workers above minimum wage and provides them with a retirement plan and healthcare.

Lonely the Label

This label’s name may be Lonely, but their size inclusive and beautiful designs have won them almost 350k followers on Instagram.

While we hate to use the word flattering, it’s hard to find another to describe Lonely The Label’s swimwear. It’s the little details that make their swimwear so wearable, such as the V centre of these high-waisted bikini bottoms and the fact this one piece is fully adjustable.

The brand, which also specialises in lingerie, has also taken steps towards body positivity by swearing off retouching their marketing images as well as not using padding and underwire in their pieces

Bruna Malucelli

Bruna Malucelli’s eponymous swimwear line celebrates diversity and ‘all types of women and bodies,’ which makes a refreshing change from most brands.

The label offers unique one pieces and bikinis embroidered with pom poms and made with boucle, which they claim has never been used in swimwear before.

Sizes range from XS to 4X, so everyone can wear the cute designs on the beach.

Innovative design that fits perfectly and doesn’t harm the planet? That’s the Chromat promise.

Founded by Becca McCharen-Tran, the brand offers fun, fashion-forward pieces inspired by architecture and technology that promise to enhance the wearer’s performance in any given activity. The pieces are also made with regenerated nylon spun from fishing nets and post-consumer plastic bottles. They are crafted in fair-wage factories in New York and Sofia, Bulgaria.

One of the best plus-size swimwear brands on the market? We think so.

Simply Be

Simply Be proudly proclaim: “We are not one size fits all. And we are not a fad.”

The British brand are one of the best-known plus-size brands you can shop from, and for good reason too. They’re a pioneer in the curve-loving movement after protesting at London Fashion Week for more inclusivity on the catwalk and have been dressing plus-size women in stylish fashion from head-to-toe for years.

As a result, there’s not another brand out there that knows how to dress curvy women – so if you’re looking for chic swimwear, you know where to go.

With 70 years of creating perfectly-fitting and flattering lingerie and swimwear, Fantasie know what they’re doing.

If you aren’t already a fan, we recommend you check out their pretty printed bikinis and swimsuits made especially for those with bigger busts.

Next might not be the first store that comes to mind when you think of plus-size swimwear, but the high street shop is one of the best places to find one pieces and bikinis that fit every body.

From petite to curve swimwear, they’re the answer to our prayers. It helps that their swimwear is actually super cute too, with printed, tummy control, underwire and many more pieces that answer all of our needs.
