Is Milan Fashion Week cancelled in 2021?

Here’s everything we know so far.


We always get excited for seeing fashionโ€™s heavy hittersโ€™ presentations at Milan Fashion Week (MFW), but is it still happening in 2021?

Now that restrictions are slowly easing, weโ€™re even more optimistic about the shows in Italyโ€™s fashion capital. However the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing, leaving MFW up in the air.

Last yearโ€™s shows were digital-only and were held in July 2020, while the latest event in February was also showcased digitally.

Is Milan Fashion Week cancelled in 2021?

While there is no confirmation yet from Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the organiser of MFW, if thewomenswear shows in September will happen, it did announce that the menswear showcase will be held from 18 to 22 June.

As MFW still look place in February, itโ€™s expected that it will happen in September too. Whether it will happen in person or digitally is yet to be confirmed.

How to watch Milan Fashion Week

As you wait for updates on the September shows, you may be interested to see the menswear shows in the meantime. 

If you happen to be in Milan and work in the fashion industry โ€” whether in journalism, design or styling โ€” you may be able to catch the shows live.

Dolce & Gabbana, Etro and Giorgio Armaniโ€™s shows will take place with a live audience, while another exciting show to watch out for is Dieselโ€™s first showcase under new Creative Director Glenn Martens.

Can the public go to Milan Fashion week? 

In the past, specific shows that were open to the public were held at MFW. However, thereโ€™s no confirmation that there will be physical activations this year.

The good news is that a big part of MFW will still be digital. So you can catch the shows online without needing accreditation or an invitation.

Simply head to the Instagram or YouTube channels of the designers showcasing.
