Jumpsuits are possibly one of the easiest items to wear.
Flattering and simple, they can look so chic without much thought at all. This is perhaps the reason why I have more than a few in my wardrobe, but are they actually on trend?

At Wear Next, we believe the most important thing to consider when making fashion choices is whether you feel comfortable and confident.
Trends come and go, but it’s vital to find what works for you and prioritise that first and foremost.
However we do understand that you might want to know what to wear this year. For this reason, I recommend reading our guide to the key trends for SS22.
If you’re still pondering over whether to keep your jumpsuits, keep reading for what you need to know.
Are jumpsuits in style in 2022?
Jumpsuits are a timeless piece. They’re easy to wear and definitely useful to own for those days when you might not have time to style up a more complicated look.
This year, they’ve had a slightly more daunting update. While they had a utilitarian feel over the past few years, now they’re skintight.
Stars including Hailey Bieber, Kim Kardashian and Lizzo have been spotted wearing them, while they were seen at the Burberry, Saint Laurent and Valentino shows too.
The catsuit might not strictly be a jumpsuit, but it’s certainly an iteration of the item.
I still feel jumpsuits have their place, and I’ll continue to wear mine. If the idea of wearing a catsuit fills you with dread, join the club. But the way to make them on-trend is to opt for fits and colours that are timely, such as brights or pastels.

How to wear jumpsuits
If you’re not sure how to wear a jumpsuit, keep it simple.
Don’t complicate it with extra layers or accessories, but try the understated look first.
When you’re ready, try adding a coat in a clashing print, as seen at London Fashion Week (above).
What jacket to wear with a jumpsuit
It all depends on the cut of your jumpsuit, but if we’re talking catsuits, I recommend an oversized fit or exaggerated silhouette to balance out the look. Think textures and prints, such as teddy, faux fur or quilted coats.
If you’re struggling with it, take a look at Instagram for outfit inspiration and then try out some options. It’s all about trial and error!
