90s trends have been creeping up on us over the last couple of years and if you thought you could side-step their resurgence, think again. Another trend is back thanks to Rihanna and it’s about to explode.
Faux fur bucket hats are back on the agenda, regardless of whether you wore them the first time around.
I wasn’t convinced about this trend either, but Ri Ri’s latest looks have persuaded me to give it a chance. They say anything’s ugly until she decides it’s not and I guess we can say the same for fuzzy bucket hats.
The singer and actor has been sported numerous times wearing faux fur bucket hats in daringly bright colours, such as neon green and fuchsia. On one occasion, she teamed her hat with an oversized denim jacket and jeans (so 90s).
You can follow in her footsteps and pair yours with other reemerging 90s trends, like the jacket Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow loved to wear back in the day, or match the hue to another element in your outfit such as your shoes, top or handbag, like influencer Emma Fridshell.
It’s a daring look, but there are positives. Aside from the abundance of styles it comes in, a bucket hat won’t mess your hair up the way a beanie does.
While bucket hats are more associated with summer and spring, this iteration with fuzzy, furry material makes for the perfect autumn winter accessory. They may look intimidating at first but they’re actually quite easy to incorporate into your wardrobe.
If you’re ready to take the plunge, there are lots of styles available now.
If you’re a fan of bright and colourful things like Rihanna, you’ll love Stand Studio’s faux fur tonal bucket hat in a fun periwinkle-purple shade.
If a classic hat style appeals to you, you can opt for the Adidas faux fur printed bucket hat which comes in a brown colour with a cheetah print.
