Is plaid still in style in 2021?
Checks in the form of tartan and gingham are making a reappearance in 2021.
Plaid is somewhat a style staple for cooler seasons. For autumn and winter 2021, plaids and checks are alive and vibrant. Case in point: Avril Lavigne at the 2021 MTV Music Awards. The singer wore a cut-out suit from Area with a glitter bandeau.
From gingham trousers, to beautiful check dresses, plaid was everywhere in the first part of the year too. This is in part thanks to Ganni, the Scandi brand which released some beautiful check dresses for SS21. Cabincore and cottagecore were also a couple of rising aesthetics that helped give way to the renaissance of this look.
What trends are coming back for 2021?
Trends always come back around, so there are plenty that are making a reappearance in 2021.
This includes satin scarves, worn as neckerchiefs or on the head, voluminous sleeves and shoulders, monochrome and a variety of pretty prints. For autumn-winter, we’re seeing the resurgence of quilt jackets, waist coats, cowboy boots, and more. Check out our report on all the trends you’ll be seeing and wearing in the latter half of the year!
