Finding a sports bra that actually supports big busts can be an intense workout itself, but I’ve done a whole load of research to find the best styles out there from M&S, Lululemon, Sweaty Betty and more.
Comfort is an absolute must when it comes to work out clothes (which is why leggings are so popular) but it’s even more vital to find decent sports bras to avoid discomfort during that HIIT class.
According to a recent study published in Frontiers in Sports and Active Living, approximately 75% of women encounter breast pain while running. This discomfort is attributed to a combination of large breast size and the usage of poorly fitting or unsupportive sports bras, as highlighted by researchers.

We know it’s important to find a well-fitting sports bra then, but where should you start?

How to choose a sports bra for big busts
The first thing you need to get right is the size and fit. It helps if you can find a sports bra with cup sizes and a hook and eye closure, as these features will give you support where you need it.
Wide straps help to reduce the strain on your shoulders and back during your workout, so this is a great feature to look out for.
You might also prefer underwired or wire-free sports bras. Those with underwire offer shape and support, but they can dig in and add to your discomfort. If you require an underwired option, wide bands and extra fabric can take some of the pressure off and add a little bit of comfort.

Depending on what you’re using it for, you’ll also want to look for the appropriate support needed. Some sports bras are best for high impact support and these are great for HIIT and running; lower impact sports bras can be worn for yoga or pilates.
Sports bras closures should also be taken into account; zip-up styles or those with hook and eye closures are great for you.
Compression sports bras tightly hold everything in place, while encapsulation bras are designed with separate cups. It’s actually best for you to look for the latter, as these are better suited to larger-breasted women. They usually come with the aforementioned features, like adjustable bands, thicker straps, and underwiring.
