When you think of Barbie, there’s only one colour that comes to mind.
You’ll have noticed it on the catwalk, in high street shops and all over Instagram. But since photos dropped of Margot Robbie filming the new Barbie movie in head-to-toe fuchsia, the maximalist trend has taken a turn for the…pink.
#Barbiecore is the latest aesthetic to explode, following on from the coquette aesthetic inspired by US TV series Euphoria.

What is Barbiecore?
In short, Barbiecore is what it sounds like: head-to-toe pink.
Take inspiration from Robbie, who plays the lead role of Barbie in the Warner Bros. movie, which is set to hit cinemas on 21 July this year. She stars alongside Ryan Gosling as Ken, and has been pictured wearing a fuchsia pink waistcoat, matching flares, a pink bandana around her neck and lime green rollerblades.

The film has arguably set a trend, but Valentino’s AW22 collection got there first. Pierpaolo Piccioli formulated a new hot pink hue in collaboration with Pantone named Valentino Pink PP and created his entire collection in the shocking pink shade.
There’s no better representation of Barbiecore than Elle Woods and with a third Legally blonde film currently in the works it means those iconic pink outfits will be making a comeback in a big way.
Who could forget pink obsessed Elle Woods, played by Reese Witherspoon, who took over Harvard. I can’t wait to see what Elle Woods is up to in the next instalment of our favourite film, but more importantly I can’t wait to see what all pink ensembles she’ll be rocking.
Who’s wearing it?
The question should be: who isn’t?
As well as Robbie, stars embracing the look include Kim Kardashian, Lizzo, Megan Fox and Hailey Bieber.
How to get the look
Barbiecore is easier to wear than you think. If head-to-toe pink isn’t your thing, try a pop of pink to start.
