Fisherman sandals
2021 has seen ‘90s fashion coming out of the vaults. One of the many styles from the era that dominated the looks of people on the street and online is the fisherman sandals. The look has now been updated, though, and looks more chic and polished.
Pillow sandals
Comfort will now always be king, and that’s evident in the pillow sandals trend. These pairs are just as comfortable as your house slippers — maybe even more — and they’re chicer.
Dad sandals
If you never liked your dad’s sandals when he wore them, maybe you’ll like wearing them instead. Dad sandals have risen in popularity this year, and we’re not complaining. They’re comfy and edgy.
Velcro sandals
Yet another ‘90s shoe trend that rose again in 2021, the velcro sandals are perfect no matter if you wear them hiking or not.
Slides
Look at these as an extension of your comfortable outfits at home. The only difference is they’re more sophisticated — but still comfortable.
Chunky sandals
Not into flats but don’t like heels? Chunky sandals are what you need, and there’s an abundance of really fun styles right now.
It’s not too late to get a pair for one of these trends, but if you’re already on your way to preparing for cooler months ahead, these are the pieces to watch out for. Here are the shoe trends for autumn-winter 2021, according to SANTE + WADE co-founder Agnes Cushnie.

Chunky loafers
These will be big this season. Keep an eye out for patent leather and gold hardware.
Metallics
It’s all about going all-out for this trend. Inspired by ‘70s disco, metallic heels, boots, mules, and more are the way to go.
Power pumps
‘90s trends are not done from resurfacing. The power pumps are emerging as one of autumn-winter key trends.
Walking boots
Practical and embellished? Yes, you can have both when it comes to this trendy style.

Extra height
Ditch the stilettos for now. Platforms are what’s ruling in the coming seasons.
Lug soles
If you haven’t seen these around yet, you’re bound to. Lug soles are one of the shoe styles that will definitely be on trend in 2021.
Knee-high boots
Autumn and winter outfits won’t be complete without boots. This year, it’s all about ‘70s-inspired knee-high styles.
House shoes
We’re all so used to leather and anything heavy for autumn-winter, but this year begs a change with house slippers.
