House Of Gucci Plot

House Of Gucci is based on Sara Gay Forden’s book The House Of Gucci: A Sensational Story Of Murder, Madness, Glamour, And Greed, and tells the story of Maurizio Gucci.

The heir to the fashion house went against his family’s wishes and married Patrizia Reggiani in the 70s, with the pair enjoying 12 luxurious years together and welcoming two daughters, Allegra and Alessandra.

However things turned sour in 1985, when Gucci allegedly took off for what was expected to be a short business trip to Florence and never returned. He had met another woman, Paola Franchi, and he and Reggiani divorced in 1991.

He was forced to sell the fashion house to Investcorp for $120m, something which enraged his ex-wife.

She told The Guardian in 2016, ‘I was angry with Maurizio about many, many things at that time. But above all, this: losing the family business. It was stupid. It was a failure. I was filled with rage, but there was nothing I could do.

‘He shouldn’t have done that to me.’

In 1995, Gucci was shot four times as he entered his Milan office by a professional hitman and died in the arms of the doorman, Giuseppe Onorato, who was also injured.

It didn’t look good for Reggiani, who had publicly denounced her ex-husband and dropped some pretty huge hints that she wanted him dead, telling Storie Maledette, ‘I have to admit that for a time, I truly wanted to get rid of him. I wanted to do it and so I was going around asking for people to do it. But my intentions ended there – a mere obsession, a mere desire.

‘What wife has never said, ‘I’d kill that guy?’’

In 1998, she was found guilty of plotting to murder her ex-husband and sentenced to 29 years in prison along with a team of accomplices.

The hitman, Benedetto Ceraulo, received a life sentence, while Gucci’s friend Pina Auriemma was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for organising the killing for £250,000. The getaway driver Orazio Cicala was sentenced to 29 years and the hotel night porter Ivano Savioni, who allegedly hired both the driver and the killer, received a 26-year sentence.

What is the release date for House Of Gucci?
