If you’re looking for one pair of sandals to see you through the summer, look no further than your trusty Birkenstocks.

The sandal has been labelled the ‘shoe of the COVID era‘ and it’s not hard to see why. Fashion has been all about comfort in lockdown, and while we’re expecting to see extravagance and exaggerated shapes when it’s over, it won’t be instant.

In lockdown the shearling-lined sandals have been our house slipper of choice, while the classic Arizona styles go with nearly every outfit. There are plenty of fashion-led styles such as printed pairs, suede clogs (a style that’s set to be huge this summer) and even a collaboration with Central Saint Martin that has given the shoe an exciting update.

So which pair should you go for? We break each style down and show you our favourites.

Arizona

The classic shape we all know and love, the Arizona features two straps across the foot and offers unrivalled comfort.

You can’t go wrong with a black pair of Arizonas. They’re a wardrobe staple we just can’t live without.
