Nicki Minaj proved just how influential she is yesterday when she shared a photo of herself wearing nothing but a pair of diamond-embellished pink Crocs on Instagram, leading to an unbelievable surge in sales of the shoes.
The Sole Supplier reported that the rapper’s photo caused a 4,900% spike in sales, while the Crocs website crashed soon after Nicki’s photo went live. Google also reported that the phrases ‘pink Crocs’ and ‘Nicki Minaj Crocs’ became breakout searches on the Internet, while searches for the brand on Lyst spiked by 352% in less than 12 hours.
While Nicki’s influence is undeniable, demand for Crocs has already risen by 210% this year and the brand saw a 64 per cent rise in revenue in the first quarter, up to a record-breaking £331million.

Clogs themselves have also been tipped this year’s most stylish shoes after Hermés showcased a selection of studded slip-ons in its SS21 show. Zara’s suede pair sold out, while Birkenstocks’ clogs are selling fast too.
In short, there’s never been a better time to get yourself a pair of clogs. While we’re a fan of colourful fashion, they don’t need to be bright pink either. Whether you choose to buy Crocs like Nicki or a pair of ultra-chic Swedish Hasbeen’s, it’s safe to say you’ll be in good company either way.
