If you’ve ever found yourself browsing H&M, saving an item, and discovering it’s sold out by the time you go to buy it, you’ll be wondering if H&M ever restock?
Some of the brand’s most popular items sell out quickly, so it’s not always easy to get your hands on them. So if you’re someone who likes to take time over purchasing decisions, it can be stressful.
For example, the brand’s designer collaborations sell out pretty much instantly. Simone Rocha’s collection with the high street store flew off the shelves, and Iris Apfel’s collab with H&M was the same.
Scrolling the new in collections is pretty much my hobby and I’m constantly reading about their upcoming collections, but I still miss things they sell out that quickly.
So when does the brand restock? Here’s everything we know about when exactly H&M restocks and how to check in-store availability.

When does H&M restock?
While H&M doesn’t have an official restock policy, it is widely known that most stores receive new shipments at 6 am every day.
Each morning the restock begins up to three hours before the store opens to give time to replenish the store and make sure that all new arrivals are back on the floor.
This means that if you’re looking for a previously out-of-stock item, the best chance you have of finding it is by shopping bright and early in the morning.
By this logic we would assume online restocks would follow suit and we’ve often seen the H&M website down for maintenance late at night which is when online restocks are said to be done.
Don’t forget to sign up for the ‘notify me’ option on the website – once you provide an email address, you will be contacted once the item is restocked online.
Does H&M restock sold out items?
While there is no official restock policy, H&M does in fact restock sold out items, especially when it comes to the items that sell out really quickly. These are almost always restocked.
My top tip would be to set a notification for the item you are looking for so you will receive an email alert when it has come back in stock. You can even set to notify you about a particular size. How handy!
How can I check in-store availability online?
We all know the pain of finding the perfect outfit online, heading to your local store to try it on and then realising it’s already sold out.
The great news is that there’s an easy way to find out if that outfit you have been eyeing is in stock at and even if the size you’re looking for is there.
To do this you have have two options; either use the “Find in store” feature or the “In Store Mode”.
Find in-store feature
Simply open the H&M app on your smartphone or visit hm.com on any device to find what you’re looking for.
There will be a ‘find in-store’ button, which is located below the colour swatch on the right. If the item is sold out in store or only available online, the find in-store button will be greyed out.
Once you select ‘find in-store’ you can search which store has the item available. You can search a specific area, city or store to find the branch closest to you.
Details on what sizes are available in each store are made available, as well as the opening hours and address of each store.
You can also activate ‘in-store mode’, which means that you essentially shop all the available items that are in stock in the particular H&M store you have selected.
Once you have the H&M app open on your smartphone, tap the More menu (IOS) or the top left menu (Android) and activate ‘in-store mode
Next select the store you wish to access. You can use the map view to find nearby stores or you can use the search tool to find a specific store. And voila, you’re using the in-store shopping tool!
You can search the in-store assortment and check which of your favourite marked items that are available in store.
When does the H&M sale start?
As with many fast fashion brands, H&M offers discounts nearly all year round online.
H&M also participates in seasonal promotions during winter and summer, as well as major sale events like Black Friday (the last Friday of November), Cyber Monday (the following Monday), and Boxing Day. So, you can always keep an eye out for these sales to grab some fantastic deals.
What is the next H&M collaboration?
As I’m sure you’re aware, H&M has historically teamed up with some of the world’s most esteemed designers, including Moschino, Versace, Alexander Wang, and most recently, Mugler.
These have happened annually in the past, but we’ve seen a slightly different collab from the high street brand in the last years.
They teamed up with style icon Iris Apfel on a collection in spring, but we haven’t had a designer collab just yet. We’re holding out hope there will still be one on the cards, but it could come in this year.
We’ll let you know as soon as we hear further!
What does ‘coming soon’ mean on H&M?
When H&M shows an item as ‘coming soon’ it means the product in question is not yet available to buy, but will be soon. It’s basically a preview of what’s to come.
Unfortunately, the brand doesn’t specify when these items will be available, but if it is part of a special collection, you can usually find this information by Googling it.
You’ll usually be able to find out when it’s dropping on the H&M website too.
What does H&M do with unsold clothes?
H&M takes several steps to responsibly manage unsold clothes. They collaborate with charitable organizations to donate wearable garments, ensuring they reach people in need or are sold at discounted prices in second-hand stores.
The brand also promotes garment recycling through their “Garment Collecting” initiative, where customers can bring any brand’s unwanted clothes to be recycled into new textiles or repurposed as insulation materials.
Despite past criticism, H&M continues to work towards improving its sustainability practices and reducing environmental impact.
